Coming Up in the Palisades Interstate Park:
"Closter Landing Loop"
There will be a history hike with Eric Nelsen on Saturday, October 14, meeting at 10 AM at the Kearney House at the Alpine Boat Basin & Picnic Area (PIP Exit 2). This will be an approx. 5 mile hike in about 4 hours over moderate trails with some slopes. This is a free program, to be held "drizzle or shine," open to all, with no advance registration required. "60th Anniversary of Greenbrook Sanctuary"
There will be a program commemorating the 60th anniversary of Greenbrook Sanctuary on Sunday, October 15, from 2 - 3 PM with a short reception to follow at the Visitor Center at Fort Lee Historic Park (entrance is on Hudson Terrace immediately south of the George Washington Bridge). The featured speaker will be Gene Sparling, who will discuss the rediscovery of the ivory-billed woodpecker. This is a free program, open to all, with no advance registration required. "Diurnal Raptors of New Jersey"
There will be a slide lecture with Linn Pierson for the Nature Program Cooperative on Sunday, October 22, from 2 - 3:30 PM at Park Headquarters in Alpine (PIP Exit 2). Space is limited to 25 participants, and pre-registration is required: 201 768-0379.
