"Huyler's Landing"
There will be a guided hike with Christina Fehre on Saturday, Aug 5th, meeting at 10 AM at the Kearney House at the Alpine Boat Basin & Picnic Area (PIP Exit 2). This is an approx. 5 mi. hike in 3 hrs. over moderate trails with some slopes. This is a free program, open to all, with no advance registration required; parking is $5 per car. Hikers should bring snacks and water. The hike will be held "drizzle or shine" - hikers can call on the morning of the hike to confirm should weather conditions seem questionable: 201 768-1360 ext. 208. "Eco-Explorers"
There will be a children's program with the staff of the Kearney House on Sunday, Aug 6th, meeting at 2 PM at the Kearney House at the Alpine Boat Basin & Picnic Area (PIP Exit 2). This is a free program, open to all (recommended age: 5 and up), with no advance registration required; parking is $5 per car. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The program, which will include a short hike, will be held "drizzle or shine" - participants can call on the day of the program to confirm should weather conditions seem questionable: 201 768-1360 ext. 208. "Rachel's Rangers: Summertime Hiking Adventures for Children"
There will be hiking tours for children with the staff of the Kearney House on Tuesday mornings in August. All hikes meet at 10 AM and cover about 3 mi. in 2 hrs. over relatively easy trails. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The hikes will be held "drizzle or shine" - participants can call on the morning of a hike to confirm should weather conditions seem questionable: 201 768-1360 ext. 208.
